Mt. Kenya

Africa's second-highest peak — alpine lakes, glaciers and tussock moorland.

Mt. Kenya is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the spiritual home of Kenyan mountaineering. Trekkers summit Point Lenana (4,985 m) via the Sirimon, Chogoria or Naro Moru routes, while climbers tackle the technical Batian and Nelion peaks.

The mountain rises through bamboo forest, giant heather and surreal afro-alpine moorland filled with giant lobelia and groundsel. Tarns, glaciers and jagged spires crown the summit zone.

The Sirimon–Chogoria traverse is one of the great mountain walks on the continent.
