oute: Sirimon → Sirimon. Using the same route for entry and exit is the easiest way to summit Point Lenana — you cover less distance and stay in mountain huts, though you miss the dramatic Chogoria valleys.

A great pick for hikers who want the summit experience over a long weekend, or as a training expedition before attempting Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

    Nairobi → Sirimon Gate → Old Moses Camp

    Leave Nairobi 8am with equator stop at Nanyuki. Lunch at Sirimon Gate then 4 hr hike through equatorial forest to Old Moses Camp (3,300 m). Short acclimatisation walk. Dinner & overnight in hut.

    Old Moses → Shipton’s Camp

    06:00 breakfast, 17 km / 6–8 hrs through giant heather and moorland to Shipton’s Camp (4,200 m). Light lunch mid-way, short acclimatisation walk, dinner & overnight.

    Shipton’s → Point Lenana → Old Moses

    02:30 breakfast, 03:00 start. Summit Lenana (4,985 m) at 06:00 for sunrise. Descend 2 hrs to Shipton’s for breakfast then 4 hrs back to Old Moses Camp. Packed lunch en route.

    Old Moses → Sirimon Gate → Nairobi

    08:30 breakfast and descend 3 hrs to Sirimon Gate. Meet transport, lunch on the road, arrive Nairobi.
