When is the Best Time for Rock Climbing in Hell’s Gate?

You can enjoy rock climbing at Hell’s Gate throughout the year. However, we recommend planning your adventure carefully based on the season:

  • April and May (Long Rains): During these months, scaling the Main Wall is not suitable as these long climbs require significant time and dry conditions for safety.
  • Year-Round Climbing: For shorter climbs like Fischer’s Tower, buttress, and Fischer’s cliff you can still climb during the rainy months. We strongly suggest booking your session between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM to avoid the afternoon rains and ensure the rock surface is at its best.
  • Peak Dry Seasons: For the best overall experience, January to March and June to October offer the most stable conditions for all routes, including our multi-pitch cliff climbs.
