Located in Naivasha, the towering cliffs of Hell’s Gate National Park offer the premier outdoor rock climbing experience in Kenya. Climbers scale the dramatic Fischer’s Tower — a 45-metre volcanic plug near the main gate — Fischer’s Cliffs, a two-pitch buttress, or the massive Main Wall which stretches up to 150 metres high. Organised climbing here began in the late 1950s and early 1960s, pioneered by early members of the Mountain Club of Kenya (MCK), including legendary British climber Arthur Firmin. The park now hosts over 100 bolted and traditional routes on columnar basalt with excellent friction and cracks — a perfect playground for absolute beginners on top-rope and advanced climbers chasing multi-pitch thrills.
This specific day package is tailored for beginners, intermediates and advanced climbers. We set up accessible top-rope anchors for novices, 2-pitch intermediate sport/trad multi-pitches, and hard, vertical single-pitch test-pieces on Fischer’s Cliffs for advanced climbers. It excludes highly technical, multi-hour big-wall lines that demand all-day logistics. Because equipment is pre-arranged and lines pre-vetted, the standard climbing block runs 2–4 hours, leaving energy and time for the park’s other attractions.
